Wendys (WEN)

I don’t want to tell you,” I told you so.” But read the article below from Wall Street Cheat Sheet. I have been posting what a great Stock investment Wendys (WEN) for over a year. Hopefully can finally break out of its trading range of $4.80-5.50 a share. Good Luck Investing. Tony

Wendy’s to Overtake Burger King for Fast Food’s No. 2 Spot

Wall St. Cheat Sheet – 4 hours ago

Companies: McDonald's Corp. The Wendy's Company RELATED QUOTES Symbol Price Change

MCD 99.105 +0.29

WEN 5.245 +0.19

Wendy’s is set to overtake Burger King to become the second-largest U.S. fast-food chain in sales behind industry

behemoth McDonald’s . Since Wendy’s was founded in 1969, there has been no reordering of the industry-leading trio —

that is, until now.

Hot Feature: Walgreen Numbers Down Due to Express Scripts Dispute

Americans are expected to spend more than $175 billion on fast food this year, up about 3 percent from 2010. Wendy’s

same-store-sales in the U.S are forecast to rise 1.1 percent this year, while Burger King’s U.S. and Canada same-store

sales are expected to drop 3.9 percent, according to market-research firm Technomic Inc.

Technomic’s figures mean Wendy’s sales are on track to be $8.42 billion this year, $53 million higher than Burger King’s

sales. However, the outcome won’t become clear until both companies report fourth-quarter results early next year.

Most notable about the shift is that Wendy’s has gained on Burger King without opening more locations. Wendy’s number of

restaurants in the U.S. has remained flat at roughly 5,800, well below Burger King’s approximately 7,200 U.S.

restaurants.

Wendy’s fortunes have improved since investor Nelson Peltz’s Triarc Cos. bought the chain in 2008, broadening its menu,

changing the lettuce in its salads, softening the edges on its square burgers, and also raising some prices.

Wendy’s has also benefited from weakness at Burger King, which analysts say has suffered in recent years from a series

of management and ownership changes, as well as a lack of menu development, and an overall reliance on young customers

at a time when high unemployment has left much of America’s youth without the money to spend.

However, Burger King spokesman Miguel Piedra says the company is “focused on driving strong expansion in its many

markets around the world,” and that it “will strongly position the brand” to remain the No. 2 burger chain worldwide.

Burger King has nearly 12,400 restaurants worldwide, almost double the number of Wendy’s restaurants around the world.

Wendys (WEN)

The Stock of Wendys (WEN) has been threading water all week. It has been stuck in the $4.80-5.50 range for the last year. Once it closes about $5.50 things are looking good for a short term run to $6.25. Don;t usually like to do short term trades but I like them for a quick buck or better yet for the long haul. I could easily see $8 a share within 2 years. But and hold for the long haul or trade them. If you go the buy and hold route collect the decent dividend while you wait. Good luck investing. Tony

Wendy (WEN)

I have been telling my readers about this company for awhile now. Food costs are going down, great thing for them. They sold off Arbys to focus on their core brand Wendys. They will have a full breakfast menu rolled out in 1000 stores by years end. This alone will add to the top and bottom lines. Breakfast has been the most profitable meal for McDonalds for years. All Wendys has to do is grab 10% of their market and the stock will soar. Get in now while they are still cheap. Good luck investing. Tony

Wendys (WEN)

Now that the stock has corrected I see it as a strong short term buy. The director just picked up 25K worth in an open market buy. I put my money where he puts his. Still love them long term too. I look for $7 a share within a year. Good luck investing. Tony

Happy Thanksgiving

The day is here, of course we are still cleaning and getting the house ready. Haven't started cooking yet but we have a lot of time. Told everyone to come at 4:00. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Tony

Barnes & Noble (BKS)

So far this pick has been spot on. While I still like it for the long term, for a short term trade I would take me profits and run. If you got in around $10 a share take your 80% profit and wait for a pull back to get back in. They will have a great Christmas but I think they have run too far too fast. Good luck investing. Tony

Barnes & Noble (BKS)

Another good week for the company. They have really positioned themselves for the electronic age. Plus they are growing market share in the printed books area. Give them time and they will figure out what to do with their extra retail space. It may be toys and games or another product. The company has a lot of time to figure it out while their investments in the Nook e-reader and now Nook Tablet line bare fruit. I love the company and stock long term. Good luck investing. Tony

Barnes & Noble (BKS)

Wow my picks have been spot on and timely lately. After I wrote about Barnes & Noble last week it had a 30% run up! Investing isn't all about the short run but it always feels good to make a purchase and it go up 30% right away. I still like this one and think it will run to $20 short term. This week I am looking at Hudson City Bank (HDCK) and loving what I see. Short term it's way oversold and long term it's super cheap. Once the dusts clear and things are back to normal this one will be over $20 easily. Plus right now the dividend is over 5.5%, what's not to love. Buy this one and put it away for retirement. Good luck investing. Tony

Barnes and Noble (BKS)

This article makes a good case for their stock. Read below and Good luck investing. Tony

Barnes & Noble Has A Good Retail Niche
by: Adam Gefvert November 8, 2011 | about: BKS
Lots of analysts are forecasting the end for Barnes & Noble (BKS), but I feel that kind of prediction is

short sighted. It's the "paper books will become extinct" argument, therefore since B&N is a bookstore, it's going to go

out of business. I have a different viewpoint, and I think that not only will B&N survive, but it will establish itself

as a necessary store in this new technological era.

While I'm not disagreeing that non-electronic books will eventually become obsolete, we are very far from that point.

Most people who like to read in the U.S., especially the baby boomers, prefer the paper kind. In other countries, hardly

anyone uses e-readers. The phasing out of non-electronic books in the U.S. and the world will take decades. Barnes &

Noble has plenty of time to experiment with their stores to add other items like games, toys and electronic gadgets, to

see which products sell the best.

Barnes & Noble will continue to transform and reinvent itself into a successful retail store in a new tech world. This is

something that Borders and Books-A-Million didn't have the foresight to do. Now, Borders are closing up, and Books-A-

Million has teamed up with B&N to sell Nooks. And since the Nook is in every B&N store, it's a great way to convert die-

hard paper book fans. They can try it out right there in the store, while the Kindle isn't available to experiment with

in bookstores.

People go to a B&N store for a different shopping experience than other stores. At Best Buy (BBY), people go in to

quickly look for what they need to buy and then leave. People go to Starbucks (SBUX) to have a tasty drink and socialize

or read. Barnes & Noble stores are a happy medium between the two. People can go in, browse all kinds of different books

and gadgets, and then sit down for a drink and socialize or read. Now that Borders and Books A Million are downsizing,

Barnes and Noble will dominate this specific retail niche.

Analysts often make the assumption that Barnes & Noble's Nook will be destroyed by Amazon's (AMZN) Kindle Fire. This is

quite a tall assumption. Is there some rule that everyone in the world must conform and everyone only buys the Kindle or

the Nook? Is the market not big enough for both? No, of course it's big enough.

Not only this, but I have also heard from my sources that technology experts say that even though the Kindle Fire has

been getting all the attention and publicity, the Nook is actually much better. Once users realize how much better the

Nook is, it could steal market share from the Kindle.

There are a lot more e-readers being sold than the Nook and Kindle. There's the Kobo, the Sony Reader, the BeBook Neo,

the Pandigital Novel, the ECTACO jetbook, and more being created at this moment. The Nook and Kindle were the first

movers, so they have already established the biggest followings. Techcrunch reported that millions of Nook e-readers have

already been sold.

B&N now has also come out with a Nook Tablet. In my view, B&N only grows in revenues from here. The analysts who think it

won't last keep the stock price low for smart investors. Once the investing world realizes that B&N is here to stay, the

stock should make its way to the high teens.

Redemption

Finally Wendys (WEN) is starting to break out of it's trading range. It closed Friday at $5.50 a share. If it can break through to $5.75 I look for $7.50 within a year. I still love the company long term. They are making the right moves for their future. Also love to eat there! They have the best fast food in the market for their price range. Burger King can't compete with them at all. Happy investing. Tony

I Told You So

I am very happy with most of my Stock Picks I have written about on this BLOG. Only one that hasn't panned out is Barnes and Noble (BKS). This one may still pan out over the long haul. If Liberty Media has gone ahead with the purchase we would have a made a great return on our investment short term. McDonalds (MCD) has been my best pick since I bought it five years ago in the $30 a share return range! Plus been collecting their rising dividend ever since. Happy investing. Tony

McDonalds (MCD)

Hate to brag but MCD just hit a new all time high on Friday. Look back at my old posts, have been a super bull for five years on this one. Plus they have raised their dividend every year since 1979! I still love this company with it's forward PE of 14. Great long term investment. Good luck investing. Tony

New Stock Pick

Did you my faithful reader listen to my call on Intel(INTC)? Not to brag but it was right short term and believe will be right long term too. I still love the company and will hold it forever. Today I want to talk about a bank that has been unfairly pulled down with the rest of the financial section. This regional bank is Hudson City Bank (HCBK). A very conservative well-run bank that specializes in the un-sexy business of giving people loans to buy 1-4 family homes. They stay away for speculative investors and they don't sell their loans in the after market. Meaning they keep all the loans they make. Therefore they have an extra incentive to make sure they are loaning money to people who will almost surely pay them back. Great well run company and an almost 6% dividend from this level. What is there not to like about this company? Happy investing. Tony

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Wendys (WEN)

I am still looking for Wendys (WEN) to take off. The new burgers are great, Dave's Hot N Juicy. Still waiting to reap the benefits of them selling off the 80% stake in Arbys. Plus the national roll out of breakfast should help the bottom line. This stock is still super cheap short and long term. I look for $7 a share in the next year and the $20 range in the next five years. In the mean time collect the almost 2% dividend and sleep well at night. Good luck investing. Tony

Saturday, October 8, 2011

The Case for Intel

Intel's best days are still ahead of them, from an investor's point of view. Sure their growth may be a little slower but now we get to collect the 4% dividend that will surely grow over time. PC sales growth has slowed but do you really think Intel isn't smart enough to get into the Tablet and cell phone chip market? This is one of the most well run companies I have researched in a long time. A forward PE of around 9 and a dividend yield of 4%! How can you not love this company. Short and Long term buy for INTC. Buy now, you won't regret is 2 years or 10 years in the future. Good luck investing. Tony

Thursday, October 6, 2011

Monday Morning Moves Update

Looks like my Monday morning short term buy call was the right one. Market has done well all week. Let's see if it can hold onto it's gains on Friday to close out the week on a positive note. Still see many long term bargains out there, hint, hint Intel (INTC). Forward PE of less than 9 and a 4% dividend yield. Looks sweet to me! Good luck investing. Tony

Sunday, October 2, 2011

Monday Morning Moves

September was a terrible month for short term Stock market investors. For us long terms ones it presents a huge buying opportunity. Think about it this way would you rather buy you long term dividend paying stocks at their 52 highs? Instead many of them on like 30% or more off their 52 week highs. This is a great time to pick up that one that ran away on you. In fact if corrections didn't take place we would never get the bargains we can right now. General Electric (GE) is so cheap right now. Based on their forward earnings projections their PE is under 10! This from one of the most solid of blue chip companies out there. With a dividend yield of 3.9% which they will surely be raising every year how can you go wrong? They are the number 1 or 2 player in every category they compete in. I love this company for the long haul. Good luck investing. Tony

Friday, September 30, 2011

Stock Sale

Today Stocks are once again on sale. Pick up some General Electric (GE) or some Hudson City Bank (HCBK). You won't be sorry short or long term with either. Collect the fat dividends while you wait for the market to price them realistically. Happy Investing. Tony

Saturday, September 24, 2011

Buying Chance

Can you say Stock Market On Sale? Many quality companies are now trading for super cheap prices. Intel (INTC) and Hudson City Bank (HCBK) for instance. Both paying over 4% dividends. More great news McDonalds (MCD) is at a short term attractive price once again. They just announced they are raising their Dividend 15% from last year! They have been raising their dividend every year since 1979. Got to love getting an almost automatic raise every year. Good luck investing. Tony

Wendys (WEN) Dividend

I collected my Wendys dividend yesterday. Nothing I love more about investing in Stocks than getting paid to wait for them to appreciate. It's not even close to being too late to get into this one. Buy and long term hold it. Good luck investing. Tony

Sunday, September 4, 2011

Wendys (WEN)

The time is right to pick up some Wendys (WEN) short and long term. Their new CEO brings years of experience in the fast food industry. He will know how to fully turn them around. Selling Arbys has started it and the new Burger line will continue it. I am looking for the stock to finally break out of it's trading range of $4.50-5.50 a share. Think $7 within a year is quite possible. Good luck investing. Tony

Thursday, September 1, 2011

McDonalds (MCD)

I told you all so! Buy it. I love when I am right. Collect the growing Dividend and retire rich! Long term investing is the way to go. Good luck. Tony

R.I.P.

Monday night we had to put our faithful pet Black Lab, Blacky down! She was the most gentle loving dog you could have. This dog wouldn't hurt a fly. You could take her food away while she was eating it and she wouldn't bite you. Old age is what got her. Her back hip and leg muscles basically shrunk away over the last year. It started with us having to carry her up and dog the stairs to take her out. It got worse and worse with her falling down and having trouble walking straight. Repeated trips to the Vet and medicine but her condition got worse and worse. It broke my wife and I's hearts to do it but last night we had to. She could no longer stand up on her own and she was crying yesterday. I stayed home from work to spend the day with her. Took her to the Vet last night and he gave her the shot. It was very peaceful with her going to sleep within 30 seconds with no fuss at all. We will miss her dearly. I hope there is a doggy heaven full of roasted Chicken and beef jerky for her! We will love you always Blacky! R.I.P.

Stock Sale

Many stocks are moving to the ridiculously cheap level. Such as General Electric (GE) and Hudson city (HCBK). A year from now we will all be kicking ourselves when these companies and many others share prices recover. Plus collect the 4%+ dividend while you wait for the shares to recover. Always think long term and profit from the short term corrections. Good luck investing. Tony

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Stock Market Moves

Volatility has been the name of the game for the last 2 weeks. Stocks were om sale and their were bargains to be had for the long term investor. There still are short term bargains out there. I'm still stressing quality companies with a history of paying and raising their dividends. One of my favorite picks, while boring, it's been solid is Kraft Foods (KFT). Now that they are splitting the company into two stocks I like it even better. I will pick up more shares of the slow growing solid large dividend paying side of the company. Their brands are powerhouses that have staying power through all this short term noise. Good luck investing. Tony

Sunday, August 7, 2011

America's Lowered Credit Rating

What will the market do tomorrow now that the US's Credit rating has been lowered? Personally I think the market has already factored in the lower rating. Think it will be a non-event. Last week's correction is just a blimp/set back in the current bull market. This is a classic buying opportunity for long term investors. I am increasing my holder in solid dividend paying companies. Good luck investing. Tony

Friday, August 5, 2011

Bad Predictions

Wow was I ever wrong about this week! Even after the debt ceiling deal was reached the market sold off big time! I am hoping it's reached it's climax correction point yesterday. Picked up a few stocks this week, on sale. Let's see next week start to correct to the upside. If it keeps going down I will pick up some more good names cheap, such as General Electric (GE). Lower price and higher yield, got to love it. Good luck investing. Tony

Sunday, July 31, 2011

Big Stock Market Move

I am predicting a huge rise in the Market early this week. Don't usually like to guess on the Market's direction short term but once the bozos in Washington get their act together we should see a nice move up. I look for all of last weeks losses to be made up this week and than some. McDonalds (MCD) is 8% of their high price so looks like a good time to get in cheaply for the long haul. Good luck investing Tony.

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Stocks On Sale

Attention due to the recent downturn Stocks are on sale! Use this noise and buy stocks on the dips. The government will come up with a deal and the market will recover. Use this period to increase positions in good stocks that pay dividends. Right now General Electric (GE) is super cheap!! Time for me to double down on this one. Three years from now when they are trading for $40 a share you will be very happy. Plus you will have collected the 3% yield on the Dividend. Good luck investing. Tony

Saturday, July 23, 2011

Stock Pick Updates

Don't like to brag but my picks of McDonalds(MCD) and Wendys(WEN) have both been spot on. Both companies are at 52 week highs. McDonalds just released great earnings yesterday and I think the momentum will pull the stock even higher. I expect a Dividend raise and a stock split in the near future. I look for Wendys to continue their turnaround now that they can focus on their core brand. Good luck investing. Tony

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Stock Market Update

I expect the summer rally to continue. Look for the bozos in Congress to true to look like heroes by passing a last minute Debt Ceiling increase bill. The market knows this but will rally on the news anyway. All bets are off if they don't pass a bill, then I expect a short term correction. If this happens may be a good time to get some Stocks cheap. Good luck investing. Tony

Saturday, July 16, 2011

McDonalds (MCD) Update

My pick of McDonald's (MCD) stock has been spot on. Now that the stock is close to a 52 week high think they may do a split soon. If they split and announce another buy back the stock should move a lot short term. As for long term I love the company and expect another Dividend increase toward the end of the year. IMHO It's a strong long and solid short term buy. Good luck investing. Tony

Saturday, July 9, 2011

Wendy's (WEN)

The company's stock had a great week. It hit a 52 week high. Don't like to say I told you so but I have been talking about it for some time now. The turnaround is well under way. Now that they can focus on Wendys only, without the distraction of fixing Arbys business things should get better much faster. I am still buying at these levels and expect more good things from them soon. Good luck investing. Tony

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Wendys (WEN) Update

Wendy’s (WEN) has completed their sale of 81.5% of Arbys. They have dropped the Arbys name from their company; still own a minority stake in the company. This move is symbolic and used to show that they will/are focusing on the Wendys brand exclusively. IMHO this move was long overdue. I believe now they can really focus on growing Wendys without the distraction of Arbys getting in the way. My confidence in the company is growing. Their move into the breakfast segment as the economy is turning the corner is very timely also. I look for $6.50 a share within a year and $8 a share within 2 years. Hopefully they will be able to grow the dividend also. Good luck investing. Tony

Friday, July 1, 2011

Great Stock Market

The market is doing so well these days. I am happy that many of my long term picks are at or close to all time highs. No complaints about that for sure. Beautiful thing about it is that I have been getting rewarded to sick on my hands for years. Of course I am referring to the fact I have been collecting dividends on most of my stocks for years. Better yet, rising dividends, that are exceeding Inflation easily. McDonalds (MCD) has been one of my best picks for the rising dividends reason. Also Yum Brands (YUM), you know owners of KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. Yum has a lower yield than MCD but their dividends have been rising even faster on a percentage basis lately. Now if only Wendys (WEN) would really start to turn the profit corner and be able to raise their dividends. Happy fourth of July weekend to everyone. Good luck investing. Tony

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Stock Updates

I am very disappointed by the recent stock movement in Barnes & Noble's Stock (BKS). I am hoping it's just profit taking, at the current price it's going for less than the proposed buy out price from Liberty Media. So if you buy now you will make a profit providing the deal goes through, which to me is 90%. As for Wendys (WEN) it's pulled back also from recent highs. Looks super cheap to me again so I am buying more. My McDonalds (MCD) pick is close to a 52 week high so it's a winner. I have been recommending it since $50 a share it's now $84 plus collect your %3 dividend. That's it for today, good luck investing. Tony

Saturday, June 25, 2011

General Electric (GE)

This stock is currently on sale big time! I wasn't sure if I would even be able to pick up GE again below $18 a share but this week it closed at $17.97. What a bargain of a stock this is right now, PE of just 14 and a Dividend yield of 3.25%. We may not see this much of a sale for GE for a long time. I am adding to my position this week for sure. This is one of those buy once and hold for ever kinds of Stocks that I love. Just buy it and collect the fat dividend until you are ready to retire a rich person. Good luck investing. Tony

Sunday, June 19, 2011

Wendys Stock (WEN)

Wendys was on the move this week. Looks like the street is starting to see the value in them getting rid of a majority stack in Arbys. Once the average small time investor realizes this the stock should really move. Get in now before everyone else does. I am picking up more shares myself this week. Good luck investing. Tony

Monday, June 13, 2011

Wendys Stock

Wow my predictions have been coming through! Today Wendys(WEN) announced the sale of a majority of their Arby’s division. Think they are keeping like 18.5% of that side. This is great news for the stock, today it’s started to rise. This is a great time to jump in now before the stock gets valued where it should be right now, close to $6 a share. They can now focus on the stronger brand Wendy’s. Wends will now be able to expand domestically and globally in the next year. I like the shares more today than I have in the last year. Good luck investing. Tony

Saturday, June 4, 2011

Market Correction

The Market has been down over the last 2 weeks. This is a healthy correction, just a great time to pick up shares cheaper than they were a few weeks ago. I am doubling up my position in Wendys(WEN). Nothing has changed with the companies fundamentals yet the shares are 5% cheaper. It's like shirts being on sale at Macys, pick them up now cheaper than you could have bought them last week. Market may go lower in the short term but in the grand scheme of things these corrections are just noise. Remember to invest for the long term. Good luck investing. Tony

Saturday, May 21, 2011

Barnes & Noble (BKS)

I love it when I am right. Knew that Barnes and Noble was a good speculation based on possibly the company would get bought out. Yesterday my instincts and logic were proven. The stock was up over 30% after Liberty Media announced their takeover intentions. Also its up 100% since my post about it. I picked up more share at $9, it's now over $18! Stock still has room to grow being I believe another suitor will up the ante to over $21 a share. Happy investing. Tony

Monday, May 16, 2011

Wendys (WEN)

I have one of those feelings about a stock that I believe is about to break out. Wendys (WEN) has been hanging around the $4.50-5.50 a share range for over a year now. The turnaround at Arbys has started and a buyer will materialize for them soon enough. Than the company will be able to focus on growing the Wendys brand which I think has the best food out of the big three Burgers leaders. Not sure how there Breakfast roll out will work but it should add some revenue to their bottom line. International expansion seems like the right way to go. It’s working for McDonalds and Yum Brands. So buy Wendys short and long term, IMHO. Happy Investing. Tony

Sunday, May 15, 2011

McDonalds Stock - MCD

I am liking my pick in McDonalds more and more these days. Have been buying since $45 a share. They have raised their dividend 3 times since than. The Dividend raises alone had beaten inflation over this period. They are doing everything right these days. The number 2 and 3 companies in the Burger space just can't seem to compete with them. Overseas expansion should drive this company's stock higher for years to come. Buy them, put it away, and reap the rewards for years! Happy investing. Tony

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Stock Pick Update

Looks like my best pick so far was McDonalds (MCD), way up since I posted about it. Wendys (WEN) has been in a tight up and down trading range. Not too sure about Barnes & Noble (BKS), so far things aren't panning out. Loved them when they paid the huge dividend but now just speculating on a take over possibility. My General Electric (GE) pick was spot on. Started buying at $7.50 a share, my average cost basis is $13.50 and it's currently at $20.45 a share. Also have been collecting the dividend which has been recently raised. Almost forgot MCD has raising their dividend 3 times since I have owned them! Remember solid dividend paying blue chip stocks are the way to go for longterm investing. Happy Investing. Tony

Barnes & Noble Update

Something is going on with B&N(BKS) stock, it's up 20% in the last 2 days. Options action in the stock is way up too. Think that buyout they were talking about a few months ago may go through. I am buying more shares now and think everyone should, IMHO. Happy Investing. Tony

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Barnes and Noble(BKS) Update

A month ago I wrote about Barnes and Noble Stock(BKS) no longer being a long term buy in my opinion. Things have changed based on the current stock price. Right now the company’s Stock price is such that there is no chance they will be taken over. Also it’s priced as if there is a 50% chance they will declare bankruptcy within the next 2 years. Both premises are false, IMHO. Actually at this price I think the stock is very attractive to buy once again. Between $9-11 a share I would be and am a heavy buyer. Just picked up my first new shares at $9.10, a bargain IMHO. I agree there is a slight risk that management will sink the ship by over investing in the Nook, but the price is clearly reflecting this risk already. Give the Borders stores a few months to sell their inventory and close down, this will boost Barnes and Noble’s revenue once these stores are gone. People like to buy books and many will continue to do so forever. While I love Ebooks and many people do there will always be people that want a real book to hold. Good luck investing. Tony

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Wendys(WEN) Update

So far so good on my Wendys(WEN) pick. The street is hoping they will sell off their Arby’s chain to focus on growth with their namesake Wendy’s brand. Even if they don’t sell off Arby’s I think they can turn around. They have been introducing new items to the menu and will re-launch a shot at Breakfast. The Wendy’s brand stands for quality and I believe it will transfer over to breakfast just as well. To sum things up I am a strong believer in this company and will add to my position in the stock so I am rating it a strong buy. Happy investing. Tony

Barnes & Noble Stock Status Change

I guess all your picks can’t turn out golden. Barnes & Noble(BKS) released a bad earnings report this week. Worse yet they choose to suspend their huge 6.5% dividend. Time will tell if this company is a good long term investment. I have changed my opinion on it to a hold, instead of a buy. I really liked the Dividend that management stated they are suspending to invest more money in Ebooks. This may be the right move for the company long term but short term it’s bad for us shareholders being we won’t get a yield from this investment. I will hold on for the company’s turnaround but not invest any new money in it. Happy Investing. Tony

B&N Stock Update

I am growing even more bullish on Barnes & Noble(BKS) by the day. Now that Borders Group has filed for Chapter 11 a lot of B&Ns competition will disappear overnight. I know the market for printed books has/is shrinking but there will always be a need for them somewhat. B&Ns Color Nook is an overnight success for them. I got a 3G e-ink Nook for Christmas and just love it! I have purchased double the books I usually do and will continue this trend for a long time. Have spoken to many Nook owners and they all love it. This will provide a continuous stream of revenue for them for years to come. Don’t forget about the 6% dividend! Got to love a nice fat dividend like B&N pays. Happy Investing. Tony

Wendys (WEN)

My reasons for owning Wendys are even better today than a few months ago when I posted to buy it. Once they get rid of their earning drag (Arbys) they can focus on growing the brand overseas and in the US. Breakfast sales alone will push this companies earnings up starting later this year. Strong buy on this one you won't be sorry! Happy Investing. Tony

Wendys Update (WEN)

It looks like one of my picks is finally starting to realize its value. I’m referring to Wendys(WEN), which today announced they are looking to sell off their losing Arby’s chain. This move makes total sense to me, get rid of this losing side of the business and focus on growing the Wendys brand. The stock is up close to 10% today but I think it has a lot more to go. I could easily see $6 a share within the next year to year and a half. You can collect a nice dividend while you wait. Also they are supposed to resume their share buyback program too. Happy Investing. Tony

New Pick for 2011

New company I am big on is Barnes & Noble(BKS). They just had one of there best 4 quarter increase in a long time. 4th quarter sales up 9.2% and Online sales up a sick 67%! The Online sales were due to sales of their E-readers the Nook line. Love this story being the Nook will drive sales to them for years to come. My wife got one for me for Christmas and I love it. I will probably buy double the books I usually due all year long. Am sure I am not the only one that will do this. The books are cheaper than Hardcovers and a little more than paperbacks. Great thing for the company is no printing/shipping costs at all. So they are making more per book and able to sell them for less! It will be the way of the future and their sales growth driver. Great thing is when you bring your Nook to the store they target other things for you to buy through specials over their free Wi-Fi connection. Printed books won't disappear but they will make up less and less of their sales. They also increased their floor space of games and puzzles. Both high margin items for them. All this plus a 6.5% dividend to collect! Another thing is the company may get bought out for a premium! Happy Investing. Tony

Happy New Year

It's been a very good year to be an investor. My individual Stocks have all done quite well. Also collected a whole year of Dividends, in which many of my picks have raised them this year.(Ex. Mcdonalds, Wendys, and General Electric.) I will stay the course this year for sure. Solid Dividend paying companies is the way to go for the long haul. Have a happy profitable year everyone. Tony
